George of Cappodocia

George was born and raised in the eastern regions of the Roman Empire, far away from the corruption, decay, and brutality at the heart of Rome. As such, he had a peaceful and happy childhood. His natural courage and greatness of soul led him to desire the life of a Roman soldier, which in his mind was the pinnacle of all things great and noble. Fate led him towards that path when, at the age of ten, he was left orphaned and bereft by the attack of the Cappadocian dragon. Raised by Romans, George grew into a fine young soldier. His admiration of and gratitude for the Romans, however, inhibited his ability to clearly see the problems that this way of life presented him. Disillusioned, he left the army when fate brought a long-forgotten ally back to him. He set off with new companions on more noble adventures...
